Register to EnrolThe module provides an introductory survey of operational excellence, highlighting its definition, history and the underlying principles that guide its implementation across industries.
It begins with a broad overview, presenting the concept and its evolution over time. This module lays the foundation for a deeper understanding of specific methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Total Quality Management (TQM), each of which is considered in terms of its principles, tools and impact on business processes.
Part of the lecture is dedicated to introducing the Theory of Constraints (TOC), a critical aspect of operational improvement strategies. This section details the core concept of TOC and its five steps of focus, offering a foundational understanding.
The lecture then focuses on strategies for implementing these concepts within the organization, emphasizing the importance of cultural change, leadership roles and employee engagement. It concludes with a discussion of the role of modern tools and technologies, with a special emphasis on process digitization and key performance indicators (KPIs) for measuring success.
